Tonight at dominos, the story of Howard's memorial. Eight years ago he died, almost to the day. When I came home I looked up Justin on the web, pictures of the green, green vineyards undulating across the rolling hills, shimmering in the late afternoon sun. Mostly life right now is not exactly pleasant, but sometimes it can be like this: a cold beer on a hot night, ridiculous games, good friends, and, out of the ether, the sustaining memory of a lovely, cranky, dearly missed man.
