Ishmael Reed is writing a travel book about [ta-da] Oakland. For the next thirty days or so, you can read a sort of Op-Ed preview called
Welcome to Planet Oakland from Friday's New York Times. Even if you already know a lot of what he writes about, it's fun to see the city once again make the pages of the Paper of Record.
