More AOL
news:
As Time Warner mulls what to do with its America Online division, the potential buyer on the minds of the company's executives is tech giant Microsoft, The Post has learned.

Time Warner executives have held discussions in recent months with Microsoft about a potential sale of AOL, The Post has learned.

In addition, Time Warner lawyers have begun analyzing any potential antitrust issues from such a deal, and to date their conclusion is that there would be few roadblocks to a Microsoft acquisition of AOL, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Go from suing them to selling them the asset that prompted the suit in the first place. And nobody thinks there will be antitrust issues. The world has changed.

So it's only
okay to go to a Pride parade if you're straight?:
Gay and lesbians in the entire federal workforce have had their job protections officially removed by the office of Special Counsel. The new Special Counsel, Scott Bloch, says his interpretation of a 1978 law intended to protect employees and job applicants from adverse personnel actions is that gay and lesbian workers are not covered.

Bloch said that the while a gay employee would have no recourse for being fired or demoted for being gay, that same worker could not be fired for attending a gay Pride event.

I'm guessing no
bonobos, either.:
The county that was the site of the Scopes "Monkey Trial" over the teaching of evolution is asking lawmakers to amend state law so the county can charge homosexuals with crimes against nature.

The Rhea County commissioners approved the request 8-0 Tuesday.

Commissioner J.C. Fugate, who introduced the measure, also asked the county attorney to find a way to enact an ordinance banning homosexuals from living in the county.
Thanks, Mike.

The
future of my past?:
Time Warner is considering strategic alternatives for its America Online division, including a possible sale, spin-off or a significant restructuring of the business, The Post has learned.

Time Warner's bankers at Goldman Sachs are putting together a proposal for the Internet business, which despite a steep drop-off in subscribers continues to generate significant cash flow, sources said.
Thanks, Jatin.

We'll appoint a committee and get to the bottom of
this:
The Blue-Ribbon panel named by George W. Bush to study intelligence prior to the Iraq war has been billed as a bipartisan effort to get answers. But how evenhanded will it be? A TIME examination of the panel members' backgrounds reveals a web of sticky connections to the Bush team and, in one case, an alleged lack of investigative curiosity.

[]

Questions of objectivity won't be resolved until the panel completes its task. Five weeks after being appointed, the group has not met, and it is unclear when it will.
